The Hours of Service (HOS) regulations (49 CFR, Part 395) were revised in August 2005. Eight
logbook examples are provided below.

Driver's Daily Logbook Example #1











No violation on either day.

Compliance with the
11-hour and 14-hour rules is recalculated from the end of the first of the two
periods used to obtain 10 hours off duty.

Driver's Daily Logbook Example #2











No violation on Day 1.

There is a
11-hour violation on Day 2 starting at 11:00 p.m. until midnight.

Compliance with the
11-hour and 14-hour rules is recalculated from the end of the first of the two
periods used to obtain 10 hours off duty.

No violation on Day 1.

There is a
11-hour violation on Day 2 from 11:00 p.m. until midnight.

There is also a

periods used to obtain 10 hours off duty.
